Was out for a spin yesterday and found a few trees down blocking a few trails. On the track that links the back track to the windfarm there are 5 or 6 big trees down and you need to do a bit a wading through the woods to get round them. The other was on bus stop where a tree has come down onto the old fence. You can get under it but not on a bike. Cheers Henry Posted by Henry on 28 December 2011 Hi Henry Thanks for that information. I think we are going to speak with Mr Munro Ferguson to see if the estate can help us out as there are too many big ones down for us to deal with. Cheers Gordymac Posted by Gordymac on 28 December 2011 Good idea. I was out on the 31st as well and ended up in the middle of a pheasant shoot just up above the quarry on my way to Mondeo! They had earmuffs on so nobody heard us coming. It was terrifying. Watch out if you are in that area! H Posted by Hendo on 01 January 2012 Slowest down Fyrish? Hi guys - not caught up with you for ages, but still out riding. I saw Dave's quickest time down Frish and found the entrance to famous grouse by walking all the way up it with bike. Before I get to my time I'd like to point out that I got lost (twice) had 2 unscheduled dismounts, chickened out on 2 technical bits and had to stop to tighten my front quick release (scary). 14m 25s. Do I get a prize? I'm aiming to beat the 12 minute barrier. Dave I hope you are quaking in your cleats! Posted by Simon on 31 October 2011 Hi Simon Good to see you are getting out there, Our Sunday rides are a bit sporadic at the moment due to me being in the thick of the cyclo cross season. I made my first timed attempt on TFG last week, I had a few where does it go now moments and a pretty good off in the process so there is room for improvement. Hopefully see you out there sometime soon. Gordymac Posted by Gordymac on 01 November 2011 Superb Simon Good to see you found the trail. It takes a while to find the best lines so once youve done it a few times your time will plummet. I'm sure the more it is riden the better it will get. I still haven't mastered the last section of Grouse - its pretty sketchy!! Hopefully see you about. Posted by Dave W on 01 November 2011 I reckon I can beat that for a slower time! Had a good spin round the fyrish area yesterday. Rode up through evanton woods. Which are riding well. Up to the top of graveyard via the sxc course. Graveyard is nice and dry and riding well. From there went up to the monument and felt pretty grim on the loose climb.. Headed down Jubilee which is the dryest i have seen it all year. Over the bridge and round the backtrack. Which is really dry as well normally its like a river at this time of year. After that some fireroud bashing round the windfarm. Decided to do the grouse after all the climbing up to the windmills I was creeping. Managed to get the top section down to the steep corners pretty well sussed now but still a bit sketchy in the loose section through the trees at the bottom. Oil drum is ace at the moment and is super dry. Went through bus stop. Dont know where beechers is.... came down home through mondeo. A good spin. Can you let me know the way into forbidden forrest? Or is it forbidden. H Posted by Hendo on 21 November 2011 Hi Henry Although I roughly know where the forbidden forest entrance is I'll have to pass you onto Dave as I haven't even been down it yet. Glad your getting out when it's as dry as it is, I reckon its better than it was in the summer! Catch up soon Gordymac Over to you Dave ;) Posted by Gordymac on 21 November 2011 Cheers Gordy. See the cross is going well. Good luck at the scottish in a couple of weeks. H Posted by Hendo on 21 November 2011 Great Hope video Gordy - just no unfunny comments about free Hope gear please! Not sure if the owner of Hope would appreciate that his namesake has one of the slowest times down Fyrish. I must try harder. Posted by Simon Sharp on 24 November 2011 Simon At least Mr Hope knows his brakes work then, All he needs to give you now is gears to go ;) Posted by Gordymac on 24 November 2011 New to the area!!!!!! Hi, I have just moved to Bonar Bridge area and I am looking for local riding groups. I am a regular rider (if slightly old) and fear you may be a bit quick for me after having read the club web site. Any suggestions? Cheers Terry Posted by Terry Hewison on 28 August 2011 Hi Terry Our rides have been a bit sporadic during the summer due to riding away and racing, We will be back to normal Sunday rides come the middle of December if you would like to join us. Also have a look at our Boxing day bash, this one is always well attended and probably a great one for you to come to. Gordymac Posted by Gordymac on 21 November 2011 Missing the trails! Just had a very nostalgic evening/night, of which I spent the majority of the time browsing through the site and wishing i was back on the trails in Ross-Shire. City life isn't all it's cracked up to be ;) Glad to see you're all as keen for getting out as i remember. I'll be back on the bike soon...
